CDA Application

Indication of Intent - Schools wishing to apply for the CDA 2009 should indicate their intention using the on line Application Form by 26 November 2009, Thursday 0000hrs.

Report Submission – Soft copies in PDF format of the full written report must be submitted on line (provide the specific URL) by  7 January 2010, Thursday 1700 hrs. Please submit the following documents:

  1. Application report (3 pages max)  
  2. Annexes and details (10 pages max)
  3. Brief for School Visit by MOE Directors

 The full written submission should adhere strictly to the guidelines and format given in the below.

 Requirements of the report

Content: Succinct description of the school’s character development processes and observable outcomes to justify the Award for the school according to the 3 criteria described in the CDA Handbook. (format of report is freestyle)
Length: Main section of the report not exceeding 3 pages, and annexes not exceeding 10 pages. Pages beyond the requisite limit will not be considered.
Document Format: A4 size, Arial font size 12, single spacing, with 1- inch margin all around. File Format: PDF File

Selection Process

  • Short-listing - Schools will be short-listed for validation visits based on the written submissions. Selected schools will be notified of the details in mid to late-February and a date in Semester 1 will be arranged. Short-listed schools are not necessarily awarded the CDA.
  • Validation Visit (1) – The CDA panel will visit the school for a series of interviews with the school management, teachers, and students. The visit will be about 4 hours. The format of the visit will be sent to schools together with the notification of visit.
  • Validation Visit (2) – Following the first validation visit, schools short-listed for the Outstanding Development Award (ODA) for Character Development will receive a 2nd validation visit lasting about 8 hours.
  • Final Judging & Selection will be based on observations from the validation visits and subjected to clearance by senior management.
